Smart vehicle appraisal with AI image recognition
Bolsenbroek is a renowned appraisal company that assesses dozens of vehicles daily. With a growing volume of appraisal assignments, director Danny van Dalen was looking for ways to speed up the process without compromising on quality.
The challenge
At Bolsenbroek, appraisers spent a lot of time on administrative tasks related to processing vehicle photos. The manual process involved:
- Manually sorting incoming vehicle photos per case file
- Identifying and entering license plates and chassis numbers
- Looking up vehicle details such as make, model, and year of manufacture
- Linking the correct photos to the correct case files in the system
This process took an average of 5-7 extra minutes per appraisal -- time that could be better spent on the actual damage assessment.
Our solution
We developed an AI-driven intake module that automates the entire photo processing workflow. The solution combines advanced image recognition with smart data integrations:
- Automatic photo recognition: The AI automatically identifies what is shown in each photo (front, rear, side, damage, etc.)
- License plate and chassis number extraction: OCR technology automatically extracts license plates and VIN numbers from photos
- RDW integration: Vehicle data is automatically retrieved and linked to the case file
- Smart case file linking: Photos are automatically sorted and added to the correct case file
- Quality control: The system flags missing photos or unclear images
The results
The implementation of the AI-driven intake module delivered immediately significant improvements:
